Facade lighting in the building
What is Facade lighting in the building ?
In the past, lighting was used for public buildings such as office and commercial spaces, but over time, with the advancement of technology, the issue of facade lighting has expanded to the point where it has been used to display residential buildings and landscaping.
What is the Purpose of building facade lighting?
Designers believe that building facade design has a special place; Because the facade of the building is the first factor that connects and attracts people with the building.
It is sometimes heard that the facade of a building represents the type and quality of the building.
Accordingly, when designing the facade, you should pay attention to the day and night view of a building.
In this article, we want to introduce you to the goals and principles of facade lighting, because lighting a building at night is a much more sensitive issue than facade design.
Principled lighting can turn an ordinary building into a tourist attraction at night.
While unprincipled lighting turns a beautiful building into a scary night scene.
Types of lighting :
There are several ways to illuminate the facade of a building, the three most common of which are:
1- Rough lighting :
We use rough lighting to highlight the architectural elements of the building’s facade.
Violent lighting, small textures, and intermittent surfaces and shapes expose the building’s facade to the viewer’s attention.
Unfortunately, this method of lighting cannot illuminate a large area of the building’s facade.
Lighting fixtures are usually installed on the same structure as the light and are not far from the building’s facade.
2- Uniform lighting :
Uniform and soft lighting is usually done from one point near the facade of the building
Which makes the facade of the building uniform and bright on a large scale.
3- Lighting from inside and outside :
Using the windows in the facade and the skylight, the elements of the entrance of the building and its outer surface can be illuminated by lighting inside and out.
Building facade lines determine the volume of a building, which can be determined by defining the edge of the lines by linear light sources such as neon lamp tubes or fiber optics.
Although in general the source of facade lighting may be more visible than the building itself, its overall effect will be pleasing.
